Learn without an account

Margo processes documents in your browser. Without account sync, courses, writing and saved vocabulary stay in that browser. Clearing browser storage or using a different device may remove access to them. Export a backup from the app to keep a copy.

Optional account sync

If you choose Google sign-in and enable sync, Margo stores your courses, extracted course text, writing, vocabulary and progress in a private Firebase account. Learning data is stored in the Singapore database. Google and Firebase process authentication data according to their own terms; their authentication infrastructure is not restricted to that database region.

Original uploaded files are processed locally and are not stored by Margo. Extracted text used in a course is included in sync. Only upload material you are allowed to store, and avoid confidential work documents. Cloud sync is optional and is never a requirement for a lesson.

Optional SI writing feedback

When you request a review, your answer, task, a short reference excerpt and up to three remembered practice points are sent to Cloudflare Workers SI. This processing is not restricted to Singapore. Margo does not store the submitted text on its review server. Feedback and a bounded tutor notebook of corrections, review scores and observed revisions are saved with your lesson on this device and in Firebase only if you enable account sync.

SI review requires Google sign-in and permission for each submission. Anonymous daily identifiers and request times are stored on Cloudflare with records older than seven days removed after successful reviews to enforce trial limits; they contain no essay text. During the free trial, there are three attempts per learner per day and up to fifty shared across Margo, subject to the shared daily compute allowance. Failed or interrupted attempts may count. Limits reset at 07:00 Vietnam time. Reviews are learning guidance and may contain mistakes.

Keep control

Use the sync panel to export a device backup, sign out or delete cloud learning. You can clear the tutor notebook from its own panel. Cloud deletion removes your learning backup; the device copy remains until you clear it in your browser. Contact Ivan Le if you want assistance with deleting the authentication account. Your request must come from the account you want removed.

Free access and ownership

© 2026 Ivan Le. Margo is free for personal learning. The original application, lessons and visual identity remain Ivan Le’s work. Commercial redistribution, resale or rebranding requires permission. Libraries, fonts and language datasets retain their own licences, available in third-party notices and the app’s About screen. Rights already granted under an earlier MIT release remain unaffected.

While we develop

The app is in development. Local learning continues when sync is offline or reaches capacity. There is no advertising or cross-site analytics in Margo. Hosting and authentication providers may retain operational records needed to deliver and secure the service.
